HOW TO CATCH A MOUSE HUMANELY
It's easy to catch a mouse with our homemade humane mousetrap. Anyone can do it!
The Mouse, The Professor, And Me
THE FIRST DAY
FRIDAY, JANUARY 7, 2005
From the corner of my eye, I saw him dart along the base of the corridor and vanish into the basement.
"Oh, no!" I exclaimed.
Earl, who was slouched on the couch watching TV, sat up immediately. "What's wrong?" he asked, turning to me, concern written all over his face.
My mind raced to come up with a good answer. If I told him that I'd seen a mouse, he'd go out and get a whole bunch of glue boards to trap it. He had almost done that recently when I'd told him that I'd seen a mouse in the garage. However, I talked him out of it and into using a humane, live-catch trap. But that was only because the mouse was in the garage. I knew he would feel differently about it being inside our house. What if he saw the mouse? If I saw the mouse, he'd see the mouse, too. I decided that the best course of action was to spill it.
"I saw a mouse," I mumbled, as quickly as I could.
